Advanced Scrum Case Studies Ebook

This book is intended for people who are already familiar with the Scrum framework and its components.

Having said that, here is a brief review of the Scrum framework: its roles, artifacts, and events.

Roles

The Scrum framework defines three roles. These roles identify sets of responsibilities accepted by the individuals playing these roles.

Developers

Developers are technicians who accept responsibility for creating a product.
They form a development team within an overall Scrum Team.

The development team must have all the skills necessary to create the product by itself, with no help from outside the team. The development team must also manage itself, making all decisions as to how the product is to be created.

Product Owner

A Product Owner is a business professional who accepts responsibility for maximizing the value of a product. He or she does so by identifying valuable improvements for the development team to make to the product. The Product
Owner invests the development team’s time and effort to improve the product. The Product Owner’s relative success can be measured through the return on those investments (ROI).

Scrum Master

A Scrum Master is a teacher and coach who accepts responsibility for making sure a Scrum Team uses the Scrum framework properly. He or she teachesand coaches the Product Owner and the developers on how to live up to their
responsibilities and collaborate as a team.
